PS2 - Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King

DRAGON QUEST series (known as DRAGON WARRIOR in the US) has been one of the largest RPG series of all time, dragon quest ix and now, with DRAGON QUEST VIII: JOURNEY OF THE CURSED KING for the PS2, the series goes fully 3-dimensional. The game's storyline revolves around a nameless palace guard who is the only survivor of an attack on the castle by the evil mage Dhoulmagus.
